- Leave plenty of time for your journey
- Take the easy route – a door to door taxi will cost more than public transport, but do you really want the stress of changing trains, humping your bags on and off trains and buses unaided? Consider spending a bit more to make travel easier and a bit less on the destination
- Airport terminals are busy and stressful, consider getting away from it all with lounge access. Some travel operators and credit cards offer deals, or you can book direct, but that’s more expensive. Remember if you’re going to buy food and drink in the terminal to offset that against the cost of lounge access
- Travel insurance – don’t forget t declare your pre-existing medical conditions when you buy travel insurance
- Take 33% spare medication, split your medication among different bags in case one is lost, stolen or just delayed. Advice about medication in checked luggage varies, NHS advise is to pack spare medicine in your checked baggage
Check the NHS advice - Medication timing is even more critical than usual - adjust medication timing so that you have mobility when you need it
- Take spare copies of your prescription and a letter from GP explaining why you’re taking them
